Inverness, Scotland

Today's world pick city is Inverness, Scotland. If your looking for a vacation filled with magic and wonder then Inverness is the place for you. Inverness is host to some of Scotland's most beautiful castles and ancient attractions with all the luxuries of high street shopping, five star dining, and all the entertainment and adventure you could possibly imagine.

Adventure

Take a hike on one of the hundreds of trails through the Scottish Highlands and see a landscape that remains largely untouched by the modern world. See the highlands just as the Scottish Clansmen did 500 years ago. Take a cruise on the black murky waters of Loch Ness. Will you see the monster? While on your cruise you'll see some of the most elegant castles and estate homes in all the land including the haunting remains of Urquhart Castle. Built in the 13th century and destroyed by Williamite troops in 1692, it was never rebuilt. Guided tours are given daily. With sailing, conoeing, kayaking and rock climbing both indoor and outdoor your sense of adventure will surely be put to the test. Once you've taken in all the adventure you can handle go for a drive to the nearby village called Drumnadrochit and experience the tourist attractions and sample the finest Scottish Shortbread on earth.

City Life

Take to the high street and enjoy all the shopping and spa treatments your heart desires and then explore the back ally bookstores, and some of the most unique thrift and boutique shops in the region. If culture is your thing then Inverness has many Art Galleries worth visiting with a wide range on display from Contemporary to the Old Masters. Once you have sampled the city life pop into a local pub for a wee dram (That's a glass of Whiskey to you and I) or have a pint of ale to quench your thirst. Don't be surprised if you see one of the Highland elders dressed in their full Tartan regalia sitting at the bar sipping on a glass of whiskey. Head to one the many fine restaurants for an evening meal prepared by world class chefs with everything from local favorites to the best in European cuisine. Take one the many ghost tours through some of the cobble streets of Inverness and hear of the mystery's that most of time has forgotten. Will you be accompanied by a spirit from the past? This is truly a magnificent city that you must experience to appreciate.

Accommodation

When it comes to accommodation Inverness can't be matched for choice. You can stay in five star luxury or a traditional estate home many of which have beautiful gardens to walk through and employ some of the country's best chef's. You can even book your stay in some of the glorious Castles such as Kilravock Castle or Castle Stuart which was awarded 2nd best castle accommodation in all of Europe in 2008. For the more conservative budget Inverness has many B&B's where you sure to be welcomed with a warm smile and hot breakfast. Wherever you choose to stay, you will amazed beyond you wildest imagination of all that Inverness has to offer.
